Inviato: 16 Mar 2008 - 18:03 Oggetto: Introducing our City Mayor Rosa Russo Iervolino |
|
|
Rosa Russo Iervolino is in charge as the Mayor of Napoli (Naples) since year 2001 (she was elected in 2001 for the first time and confirmed in 2006). Like most Italian politicians, she always been into politics (since the '60s). And like most Italian politicians she had a close relative already into politics (in this case her father).
Despite the Garbage Crisis she replied to journalists, people and opposition who begged her to leave, that she won't resign and remain in charge until the legal end of her mandate, in year 2011. This confirms the popular habit of Italian politicians to avoid resignation no matter what they did or what they did not. Campania's Governor and former Naples Mayor Antonio Bassolino did not resign either. Nevertheless, these two people have been key political figures in Campania's history of the last fifteen years (since when the garbage problem started to raise).
In the following video Ms. Iervolino says that "there's an indisputable link between politics and public responsibilities", but then she adds that she will never ever resign until the end of her mandate.
In this oher video, when asked by the journalist about the garbage situation in Naples she replies "I don't know nothing" and continues repeating "it's none of my business", "ask De Gennaro" (De Gennaro is the "special tsar" appointed by the central Government to solve the Garbage crisis - a crisis which is still far to be over):
And finally, her best comment about the situation in Naples: "What do you want from me? Nobody is gonna die":
